11 Ways Being a Nanny is Good Preparation for Being a Mom

1. Multitasking becomes a work of art, I can successfully make 3 lunches, start a load of laundry, put dishes away, keep an eye out for little bottoms that dare to leave their chair, and perform a moving rendition of "if you're happy and you know it," all at the same time.
2. I am fluent in toddler and can translate to English when required.
4. I understand that nap time helps the world go round and restores sanity and reason to a day.
5. I have the ability to temporarily dislocate my shoulder in order to reach into the backseat of the car to "gently redirect" kicking feet and pinching fingers.
6. I know that the most effective remedy for a minor injury is a kiss.
7. I am well aquainted and always grateful to Elmo, Little Einstein's and Mickey Mouse. Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggity dog.
8. I know that diapers can be changed standing up, in a car, with one hand, in a box and with a fox. I do not like green eggs and ham.
9. I understand that sitting down is an open invitation to be used as a jungle gym, and that any food I'm eating is not really my own and is meant to be shared, and will always taste better than whatever they already have.
10. I know that I shouldn't expect to be able to use the bathroom without little hands pounding on the door and waiting not so patiently for me to finish, so my attention can be rightfully restored to where it should be at all times- admiring their astounding ability to spin in circles or put Mr. Potato heads eyes in his arm holes or walk successfully in shoes that are four times the size of their feet.
11. I know that happy little faces make a day great and that hugs are good for everyone!
